Places in TimeIn pre-digital days, the street clock marked the hours with a gusto beyond ticking off the mundane hours. A "Mai Fong" timepiece brandished its Chinese flavor along Massachusetts Avenue near Horticultural Hall. An upright clock added anthropomorphic energy to the Back Bay's Boylston Street between Arlington and Berkeley. These clocks have vanished, as have most of the buildings on today's lackluster stretch of Boylston Street. |
